Mission Statement
The Mission of the Eastford Democratic Town Committee is to promote inclusive local government that is progressive, efficient, fiscally responsible, open, transparent, and responsive to its residents.
We work cooperatively to strengthen the community of Eastford by encouraging positive, open-minded discussion around issues of importance to town residents. We work to strengthen the town through Democratic participation in Eastford’s boards, commissions, civic organizations, and administrative offices.
The Eastford Democratic Town Committee strives to uphold strong Democratic values as we recommend and endorse forward-looking policies and highly qualified candidates for municipal, state and national elections.
Values and Principles
The Eastford Democratic Town Committee envisions a robust and vibrant community that respects diversity and values all its residents.
We strive to promote a civically responsible government that offers outstanding services for all our residents including an excellent public school education for our children and quality support for our elders.
We honor the town’s history and look forward to its positive future as we seek to preserve the scenic beauty, rural character, and health of Eastford’s farms, forests, lakes, rivers, open spaces and wildlife.
We promote environmental sustainability and an environmentally conscious approach to the conservation and development of the town and its assets.
We support the continuance and development of strong civic, recreational, spiritual and community organizations and events that stimulate and nourish our citizens, and build healthy connections and social capital.
We advocate protection of the civil rights and liberties of all of Eastford’s residents.
To that end, the Eastford Democratic Town Committee intends that these values and governing principles will serve to inspire and motivate Eastford leaders to work for the common good of all Eastford residents and for the benefit of the town.
